Jason Baney is a freelance Lighting Cameraman and Final Cut Studio editor. He started his career in the filmmaking industry in the winter of 2001/2002; through a random series of events he found himself rubbing shoulders with the rich–and–famous on the Cresta Run in St. Moritz, Switzerland. There he covered all the action and events for seven consecutive seasons, honing his filming and editing skills. In his last four seasons in St. Moritz he became involved with the Corviglia Ski Club (a quick google search will reveal – the most exclusive club in the world) covering their annual Inter-Club Race Week.

In the summer of 2003 he set up and co-directed a production company (SnowBall Productions UK) in London, where he gained invaluable experience in corporate productions, music videos and event productions. The highlight of his time as Co-Director of SnowBall Productions, was a documentary film which covers the rise of a top UK club from it’s humble beginnings in a back yard - to sell out events in Clapham common, with over ten thousand people. This experience took him to Ibiza, Amsterdam and all over the UK.

In the summer of 2005 Jason Baney moved into freelancing, and his client list steadily grew to include the likes of: British Red Cross; Krug Champagne; General Motors Europe and his local Brighton & Hove City Council. For the past year he has done regular freelance work for Starstruck Media and once again found himself rubbing shoulders with the rich–and–famous; shooting at film premiers, theatre press calls and theatre anniversaries. His most exciting placement to date was working for the BBC as an editor for the new Weekend Wogan Sunday Radio Show.

Jason’s passion for the art of filmmaking took a leap forward in 2008 after doing an advanced lighting course and then soon after working as a First Assistant Cameraperson on a drama film, which he did the offline edit for too.  He now has extensive experience shooting with HD and DSLR, and the whole
solid–state workflow.

Jason’s passion enthusiasm and creativity are a welcome addition to any production.
